Marieke Hassell plunged into politics at the age of 18 to fight for a better public transit service, gentrification and the construction of new social housing. She is currently pursuing a DEC in Humanities World Profile and wants to pursue a university degree in Sociology.

Very involved in her local community, she works for the non-profit organization Loisir Saint-Claire, a community center for all ages, as a ballet teacher, day camp facilitator and facility supervisor. Marieke also volunteers for Saint-Vincent de Paul, an organization that helps people in vulnerable situations, as well as Accueil Bonneau, an organization that helps homeless people.

According to Ms. Hassell, the under-representation of women and youth in Quebec politics needs to be addressed. She is involved with the Green Party of Quebec because she recognizes herself in the eco-socialist, feminist and multicultural values of the party. She is determined to bring about a great wave of change by defending the oppressed and fighting against the destruction of the environment and neo-liberalism.

For Marieke, each vote cast on behalf of the Green Party of Quebec demonstrates that our ideas resonate with the public, help us to gain a place in the public debate and contribute significantly to the financing of the Green Party. For all these reasons, and even more, she will be honored to be able to count on your support during the 2018 Québec general election.
